Product Overview
The 5.25" 2.3GB 512 Bytes/Sector - Modulator is a Magneto-Optical (MO) disk that is double sided and 512 bytes per sector. They are among the most popular or common of the DICOM standard optical disks utilized in the medical imaging community. This MO disks are manufactured to ISO standards. A magneto-optical disk is a kind of optical disk capable of writing and rewriting data. It has a 5.25” media form factor and 4X rewrite speed. It is used in rewritable optical disk drives that combines magnetic and optical recording techniques. The disk is coated with film that initially is uniformly magnetized. To read the information, the disk is scanned by polarized light from a low-power laser. It is similar to a magnetic diskette except for its larger size. Magneto-optical disks are seldom manufactured and used due to the advent of flash drives and DVD/CD drives, which are less expensive and have better writing time and reliability. Magneto-optical disks are also known as magneto-optical drives and MO drives.
